Carolina Stars Welcome Hall of Famer to Coaching Staff
Charlotte, NC, December 5, 2024 – The Carolina Stars proudly announce the addition of Mitchi Collette to their coaching staff. A true legend in women’s tackle football, Coach Mitchi brings a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership that aligns with the Stars’ mission of excellence on and off the field.
Coach Mitchi’s extraordinary career spans decades of groundbreaking achievements. From 1973 to 1979 she made her mark as a player with the Toledo Troopers, earning multiple awards, including six Offensive Lineman and Defensive Player of the Year titles. Her contributions helped secure seven world championships for the Troopers, a feat recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983 when the Troopers were inducted as a team.
Her on-field versatility continued with the Toledo Furies, where she excelled as a right guard, defensive end, linebacker, and center. Mitchi’s impact didn’t stop there—she co-founded and led Thee Toledo Reign as head coach for nearly 20 years, building a legacy of excellence and inspiring countless athletes in the Midwest.
Since 2019, Coach Mitchi has expanded her influence globally through her work with AFE (American Football Events) Team USA All-Stars, furthering the development of women’s football worldwide. She has been celebrated with numerous Hall of Fame inductions, including the Women’s Football Foundation Hall of Fame (2014), Woodward High School Hall of Fame (2016), and AFE Team USA All-Stars Hall of Fame (2021).
